Troubleshooting

Start with the affected source note and the exact error. Keep a copy before you change custom Markdown or template content. Reset vault deletes vault content and is not a repair step for these issues.

Stops at startup

Check whether Obsibrain V1 is enabled in the same vault. Disable V1 and reload Obsidian. V2 stops before settings or vault writes while V1 remains enabled.

Confirm that the V2 plugin files belong in .obsidian/plugins/obsibrain/ and come from the same supplied version. V2 requires Obsidian 1.13.7 or later.

A command is missing

Check Review Cycles in Obsibrain settings for missing review commands. Open a goal for goal-completion commands.

The migration wizard and AI Alpha are desktop-only. They do not appear as mobile features.

A view is empty or reports an error

Open the underlying note. Verify its type, dates, links, completion state, and archived property. A folder name or old V1 tag does not replace V2 metadata.

For custom blocks, compare the block with a fresh widget from the library. Unknown views and invalid options produce errors. Dataview or Templater code does not become a V2 block automatically.

A template fails

Open its file in templates/obsibrain/. Check native tokens for misspellings and incomplete braces. Keep meeting schedule tokens in the Meeting template and review tokens in their matching reviews.

Missing enabled templates are recreated. Existing custom templates are preserved, so an update does not replace a broken edit.

Changes are locked or AI is unavailable

For a license error, connect to the internet and validate your purchase email and key. Offline access expires thirty days after the last successful validation.

For AI, verify Pi authentication, Pi CLI 0.84.2 or later, Obsidian CLI, and executable paths. The core workflows remain separate from those desktop prerequisites.

Change the interface language

Obsibrain follows Obsidian’s language preference. Change the language in Obsidian settings and reload the app. The plugin supports English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Arabic. Unsupported languages fall back to English. Existing note text stays unchanged.

Prepare a support report

Run Copy diagnostics. Review the report, then share it through Contact support with the error and reproduction steps. The report leaves your device only when you paste it. For import issues, use the migration wizard’s redacted support summary.
