Your first task and project
Open the dashboard, capture a task, and connect it to a project with a clear outcome.
On this page
Start after you install and activate Obsibrain. Use the command palette to find the command names below. You can assign personal hotkeys through Obsidian later.
Open today’s plan
Run Open Daily Planning. Obsibrain opens today’s note or creates it from templates/obsibrain/Daily.md.
The default daily note contains tasks, scheduled meetings, habits, reflection prompts, and a look ahead. Empty views are normal when your vault contains no matching content.
Capture one task
- Run
Add Tasks and Habits. - Choose a normal task.
- Enter a specific action, such as “Draft the project outline”.
- Select the note that will store the task.
- Add a due date or scheduled date if you need one.
- Choose a priority.
The command adds a Markdown checkbox to the selected note. Task views display that same task. When you edit or complete it in a view, Obsibrain changes its source note.
Create a project
Run New Project. Give it a title and a required Markdown outcome. For example, “Publish a project outline that covers scope and next steps.”
Choose an optional deadline and linked goals, then select its folder. Add work inside the project note. A task elsewhere can refer to the project with an ordinary [[Project title]] link.
Project completion follows its counted tasks. A project with no tasks remains open. When every counted task is complete, Obsibrain records its completion date.
Review and adapt
Run Open Dashboard to return to your workspace. Use daily planning to choose today’s work. When the default layout needs a change, edit the Markdown or add a widget.
