Habits
Create recurring habit tasks, show them in the tracker, and keep their source and history clear.
On this page
A habit is a recurring task with habit metadata. Its source stays in a Markdown note. Native habit views show the habit alongside your daily work.
Create a habit
- Run
Add Tasks and Habits. - Choose the habit option.
- Enter a clear habit name.
- Select the note that will store it.
- Enter a repeat frequency, such as
every day. - Enter the habit’s start date.
The command writes the recurrence, habit frequency, due date, scheduled date, and creation date. Use the prompts if you are unfamiliar with these fields.
Keep habit names distinct enough to recognize in a tracker. Place the source in a note that provides useful context, such as an area or routine note.
Show the tracker
The default Daily template includes a habit view. You can also open the widget library and add a habit tracker to another supported note. The widget flow lets you choose a habit.
Change or remove a habit
Use Edit Task on the habit’s source task when you need to change task details. Check the recurrence and dates after any manual metadata edit.
Delete a habit removes all task entries for the selected habit after confirmation. This includes their indented content. Preserve any history or context you want to keep first.
When you clean up completed tasks, Obsibrain also deletes any notes or subtasks indented beneath them. Check the preview before confirming, especially in notes that contain habits.
