Updates and license checks

Obsibrain includes its own updater.

Automatic updates

Automatic updates are on by default. Obsibrain checks after startup and installs a newer release when one is available and the license allows it.

Open Settings → Obsibrain → General to change the automatic update setting. Turn it off if you prefer to initiate updates yourself.

Install an available update yourself

1. Save your current work.
2. Open the command palette.
3. Run Check and install Obsibrain updates.
4. Follow the result shown by the updater.

The updater validates release files before installation. It keeps a local backup and attempts rollback if installation fails. If an update reports an error, keep that error and follow troubleshooting.

Updates do not replace your existing creation templates or dashboard content. Edit those files directly when you want to change them. Missing enabled templates are recreated from defaults.

Offline use

Initial license activation requires internet access. A successful validation creates a local cache. The plugin revalidates after the cache expires and permits offline access for thirty days after the last successful validation.

After offline access expires, connect to the internet and validate the license again. Without a valid license, Obsibrain enters read-only mode. Your Markdown files remain in the vault.
